Harlem today is experiencing its second Renaissance as the next hot spot in New York City real estate. Few are as well-qualified as R. Kenyatta Punter to say why. The Chairman and CEO of R. Kenyatta Punter & Associates, Mr. Punter is a prominent Harlem real estate developer and active in Harlem politics. He is Chairman of the Greater Harlem Real Estate Board, and a frequent lecturer on real estate at the Learning Annex. Active in both the Harlem Business Alliance and the 125th Street Business Improvement District, Mr. Punter brings a wealth of experience to the podium.

Myra Sencer, Esq.Sooner or later, most appraisers are called upon to serve as an expert witness. Attorney Myra G. Sencer, principal of the Mineola, NY law firm of Myra G. Sencer, PC will discuss the questions an attorney might ask to qualify an appraiser as an expert witness, as well as the questions an appraiser might face after being qualified. Ms. Sencer, who is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association and of the New York State Bar Association, practices in the areas of real estate, corporate law, and commercial litigation.

Malcolm N. MacNeil of Doyle New York.Mr. MacNeil is in charge of the 19th and 20th Century Decorative Arts Department at Doyle New York, where he coordinates the Belle Epoque auctions and performs estate appraisals. He received his Master's Degree from The Bard Graduate Center for Studies in the Decorative Arts, Design and Culture, and teaches there and at New York University's School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Active in a number of professional societies, Mr. MacNeil lectures and has published on American and European art glass. He will discuss the history of the Quezal Art Glass and Decorating Company, founded in 1901 by two artistic refugees from Louis Comfort Tiffany's Corona, New York glass factory. The company, which was an early Tiffany competitor, spent its final years in the mid-1920s making glass headlights and industrial ware. Reserve early for what is sure to be a fascinating talk.

The 2005 International Appraisal Conference will be held in Austin, Texas on August 7-10, 2005. April Regional Meeting -- Cradle of Aviation Museum.Lewis & Clark IMAX® MovieASA Regional Meeting at the Cradle of Aviation Museum
Hosted by Long Island Chapter 72, the fourth Annual Region 15 Meeting -- the first with a family activities theme -- will take place on Saturday, April 16, 2005 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Cradle of Aviation Museum on Charles Lindbergh Blvd, Garden City, NY 11530 (Telephone: 516-572-4111). This will be a great outing for colleagues and families alike.

March Meeting: Business Valuation.
The March Chapter Meeting will be held jointly with Long Island ASA Chapter 72 on Thursday, March 17, 2005 in the Willet Room of the historical Milleridge Inn at 585 North Broadway (Route 106/107), Jericho, NY 11753 (Telephone: 516-931-2201). Wearing of the green is optional. The Chapter Meeting at 6:30 p.m. follows the 5:30 p.m. Board Meeting. The guest speaker will be J. L. Pierson, ASA of J. L. J.L. Pierson, ASAJ.L. Pierson, ASA is a Business Valuation appraiser specializing in closely held businesses and family limited partnerships. A Columbia University MBA, he is the Secretary of the ASA Connecticut Chapter 10 and a member of the Estate Planning Council of New York City, Inc. Mr. Pierson will discuss two new rules regarding the taxation of gifts and estates proposed by the Joint Congressional Committee on Taxation, including their affect on appraisers, and the response of ASA's Business Valuation Committee. The proposed rules, which undermine the traditional reliance on Fair Market Value, will be important to appraisers in all disciplines.

New Jersey Chapter Meeting: Real Property

Paul Roberts, ASAA Fairleigh Dickinson honors graduate in accounting, Paul Roberts is a Senior Vice President at IAC: International Appraisal Company, where he specializes in tax-related real estate appraisal issues. ASA/ASFMRA Easement Seminar
The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) and the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA)Joseph Novelli, ASARonald M.
