NYC ASA/NYC Bar Mock Trial

The New York City Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers together with the New York City Bar Center for Continuing Legal Education are sponsoring Mock trial: What's It Worth In Divorce? Appraisal Of Assets What's It Worth In Divorce? Appraisal Of Assets, a mock trial, to be held on Monday, March 24, 2008 starting at 9:00 am at the New York City Bar, 42 W 44th St, New York, NY 10036.  Click to View Map

An expert panel comprised of attorneys and ASA appraisers from several disciplines will take you through a step-by-step analysis of a New York City matrimonial dispute involving a number of assets. Included will be a behind-the-scenes "prep session" with plaintiff's and defendant's counsel before trial. The program will conclude with lunch, at which the presiding Judge of the mock trial, Justice Rosalyn Richter of the New York State Supreme Court, will announce the valuation decisions.

High Profile Divorce Cases of the Rich and Famous

The February chapter meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at The Harvard Club, located at 27 West 44th Street, New York, NY 10036 (Phone: 212-840-6600)  View Map The guest speaker will be Philadelphia Chapter member Jay E. Fishman, FASA, who will discuss High Profile Divorce Cases of the Rich and Famous. A Managing Director of Financial Research Associates in Bala Cynwyd, PA, Jay E. Fishman, FASAMr. Fishman is the author of several books, including Standards of Value: Theory and Applications, with Shannon P. Pratt, and William J. Morrison, and Guide to Business Valuations. He has qualified as an expert witness in eleven states, and taught business valuation for the IRS, AICPA, the National Judicial College, the Hong Kong Society of Accountants, and the World Bank in Russia. Mr Fishman, who chairs ASA's Governmental Relations Committee and is a member of its elite College of Fellows, has recently been appointed to the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council (IRSAC) for a three-year term.

Appraisers in all disciplines will appreciate this program, which qualifies for one hour of ASA Continuing Education Credit.
